The Giving Common Challenge Prizes

 

The Giving Common Challenge is a 36-hour event that will run from 8:00am EDT on October 10, 2012 through 8:00pm EDT on October 11, 2012.  Over 60 prizes totaling $151,000 will be awarded to qualifying organizations* during the challenge period; details on the prizes are listed below.

Time-Based Prizes

  • Early-Bird and Lunch-Time prizes on October 10th and 11th and the Happy Hour prize on October 10th will be awarded to the first ten nonprofits to receive 50 unique donors** during the specified time period.
  •  From 7pm-8pm on October 11th six nonprofits receiving donations during this time will be randomly selected by The Boston Foundation to receive prizes.
  • Please note that no organization can win more than one time-based prize.
Prize Time Details
Early Bird October 10th 8-10am 10 prizes @ $1,000 each
Lunch-Time October 10th Noon-1pm 10 prizes @ $1,000 each
Happy Hour October 10th 6-8pm 10 prizes @ $1,000 each
Early Bird October 11th 8-10am 10 prizes @ $1,000 each
Lunch time October 11th Noon-1pm 10 prizes @ $1,000 each
Power Hour: Final Hour October 11th 7-8pm 6 prizes at $1,000 each
Just Announced! Lenny Zakim Fund Prize
1995th Donation $1000 to the Nonprofit receiving 1995th donation, to honor the Lenny Zakim Fund’s founding year

 

Grand Prizes

  • Six Grand Prizes will be awarded following the Giving Challenge based on cumulative results
  • Three Grand Prizes will be awarded to the organizations that receive the most unique donors** during the Challenge period
  •  Three Grand Prizes will be awarded to the organizations that raise the most money*** during the Challenge period.
  • Please note that no organization can win more than one Grand Prize. Organizations will be awarded the highest value prize for which they qualify.
1st Prize Unique Donors $25,000
2nd Prize Unique Donors $12,000
3rd Prize Unique Donors $10,000
1st Prize Most Money Raised $25,000
2nd Prize Most Money Raised $12,000
3rd Prize Most Money Raised $10,000

 

Please note that while no organization can win more than one Grand Prize and no organization can win more than one Time-Based prize it is possible for organizations to win one of each.

*“Qualifying organizations” are those with published profiles on the Giving Common as of September 24, 2012.

**“Unique donors” are different, individual donors giving to a specific nonprofit.  If two or more donations are made to an organization from a single donor, that donor will be counted as a single unique donor for the purpose of the prizes referencing a unique donor; however, if a donor gives to two or more nonprofits, that donor will be counted as a unique donor for each nonprofit to which that donor has given.

*** A maximum of $5,000 of each donation will be counted towards the “Most Money Raised” Grand Prizes.

Information for Nonprofit Organizations

In order to participate in the Giving Common Challenge your organization must submit all required information and documentation on or by August 1, 2012 and work with the Giving Common team to provide any additional information necessary for your profile to be published by September 24, 2012.  Nonprofit organizations with profiles published prior to September 24, 2012, including all currently published profiles, will be included in the Challenge.  The Boston Foundation is not eligible for any Giving Common Challenge Prizes.  To confirm that your organization’s profile is published, visit www.givingcommon.org.  There is no cost or entry fee to participate.
